edc have been employed to undertake the design and build of the M&E services for this 15 mW Energy from Waste plant in Belfast. The project is being built by Sisk and will be owned and operated by Bouygues a French operator.
The plant will contain 3 No streams which will use locally sourced waste to generate electricity. The electricity will be put back on to the local network to supply the local area.
edc’s involvement included the design of the buildings Mechanical & Electrical infrastructure. The biggest obstacle which presented on the project was the ventilation strategy. The process will generate 1953kW of heat generation within the building. edc utilised CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics) to inform our design solution. Through the use of CFD we are able to achieve an all-natural ventilated solution.
