Project Overview

Set within the historic grounds of the former Ursuline Convent, Eden is a major residential development bringing 297 new apartments to one of Cork's most established and sought-after neighbourhoods. Designed as the final phase of a wider masterplan that has evolved over many years, the development brings new homes, amenities and public spaces together within a mature parkland setting.

The three residential buildings, ranging from five to eight storeys, have been carefully positioned alongside the existing landscape and the recently refurbished Ursuline Convent. A new childcare facility, residential amenity spaces, streetscapes and a public park with an enclosed playground further extend the development beyond the apartment buildings, creating a neighbourhood designed around both residents and the wider community.

For EDC, Eden is a project where the quality of the engineering needs to complement the quality of the place. We are delivering the MEP design for the development, coordinating the mechanical, electrical and public health systems required across the apartments, shared spaces and supporting facilities.

The scale and complexity of the development demands close coordination between disciplines and throughout the construction process. Our role is to translate the design intent into practical, coordinated building services that support the comfort, efficiency and everyday performance of the completed homes.

Today, Eden is moving through the final stages of its delivery, with the three remaining blocks completing the long-term vision for the site. For EDC, it is particularly rewarding to see the final pieces of a masterplan that began almost two decades ago come together, creating a contemporary residential community while respecting the character and landscape that make this part of Blackrock distinctive.
